LOS ANGELES — In another attempt to portray themselves as completely tone-deaf to the plight of ordinary Americans suffering job losses and other economic hardships during the coronavirus outbreak, Hollywood celebrities vowed to make more pointless videos as the pandemic wears on.
“We really wanted to connect with the average American during this crisis, so we chose the song ‘Imagine’ last time around,” said “Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot. “We just, like, wanted people to ‘imagine’ what it would be like to not have to worry about this virus, like we don’t here in Hollywood.
“I mean, we pretty much have everything we need food-wise, possessions-wise, and certainly money-wise,” she continued. “So we all got together and thought, ‘What a great thing it would be to sing an off-key version of the most inappropriate song we could pick and send it out to the country!”
“‘Imagine’ what it’d be like to not have to worry about anything during this crisis,” she said. “What could be more perfect?”
Gadot and other A-listers like Will Farrell, Natalie Portman, Jimmy Fallon and Sarah Silverman promised additional videos where they will sing covers of other inappropriate tunes to soothe Americans’ economic anxieties during the outbreak including Rick Astley’s “Together Forever,” and Van Halen’s “Dance the Night Away.”
