WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Trump announced this week he wants to get the U.S. economy rolling again by opening businesses a little at a time, and he’s decided to start in Sturgis, South Dakota.

“They have a tremendous economy there in Sturgis, or at least they did before the coronavirus hit, that I can tell you,” the president said. “Some of the best t-shirt shops in the whole country, the best.

“As you may know, that is home to our country’s biggest, most wonderful biker festival, the biggest, the best, in the world, every year, and we think relaunching our national economic recovery effort there will be a yuuuuge success,” said Trump. “Bikers are very good people, patriotic people, wonderful people.”

Asked why he picked such a remote, out-of-the-way town to hit the economic reset button, the president said “his people” told him that was the ideal spot to spur an economic recovery like the country has never seen before.

“I had my people, very good people, all of them, very good, look into it,” said the president. “I can tell you, a lot of time and effort was put into this by some very good people, that I can tell you. All my advisers, coming up to me, telling me, ‘Mr. President, relaunch in Sturgis, it’s going to be massively successful.’ I think they’re right.”

The president also announced he would kick off the economic recovery himself by riding the presidential Harley from the White House all the way to the South Dakota landmark.
