(PALO ALTO, Calif.) Tesla CEO and billionaire mogul Elon Musk became the first person to successfully place a round peg into a square hole on Thursday.

Musk, who said he’s been working on a geometric calculation using artificial intelligence and a supercomputer for months, noted that he finally uncovered the correct algorithm earlier this week ahead of scheduling a demonstration at a lab at his Tesla headquarters.

“Really, this wasn’t as difficult as it seemed all along,” Musk told assembled reporters. “For eons, we’ve simply been looking at the problem from inside the box when outside the box thinking was required.”

During the demonstration, Musk noted that the term ’round peg’ didn’t necessarily mean that an object had to be exactly round.

“But of course, that makes the challenge much more difficult when it is,” he noted.

The SpaceX chief engineer also noted that discovering the correct “round hole-square peg” algorithm will also serve to dramatically advance his ongoing space exploration efforts.

“Imagine what we can do with this kind of capability a million light years from Earth,” Musk remarked. “Any other civilization we encounter will see just how advanced the human race really is.”
