(LOS ANGELES) Pop princess Britney Spears surprised many of her male fans with an announcement on Wednesday noting that recent photos posted to her Instagram account showing her nearly nude were actually pics of a body double.
“I just wanted to be honest and up front with fans, particularly the guys,” Spears, 40, said. “I’ve been working my tail off to stay looking fit and trim, but you know, that gets harder to do as we age and it’s no different with me.”
Spears says she’s laying off the fast food and snacks as she prepares for a new post-pandemic tour so she can get back in shape for the stage. But in the meantime, she said she wanted to stay engaged with fans so she hired a lookalike for various social media photoshoots.
“Trust me: The body double is in much better shape than I am,” Spears, who was dressed in loose-fitting gray sweat pants and matching top, told reporters here this week. “I’m literally disgusting under all of this.”
Still, the pop star assured fans she’d be back in tip-top shape soon for her upcoming tour.
“My fans have come to expect that. I just let myself go these past several months dealing with dad and the conservatorship. But I’ll be back, better and ‘more booty’ than ever!”
