(Los Angeles, Calif.) Federal officials say that as the government prepares to crack down on drug cartels, they have begun to shift their business model and are moving into other areas like prostitution.
According to Jeremy Fleck, an FBI special agent in charge, the cartels are using gang members who identify as women instead of real women because they believe cartel leaders know they can trust them more.
“They won’t use, let’s just say ‘outside talent,'” Fleck said, “because they know their members are solid, trustworthy, and more than capable of taking care of themselves should one of their ‘Johns’ get out of hand.”
Fleck also noted that some of the bangers who identify as women are quite fetching so it is difficult to tell them from actual female hookers.
“They’re really good at this,” he confessed. “They aren’t that easy to spot. Several of our undercover officers and operatives thought they had a gang member hooker dead to rights only to find out that when they got to the hotel room, they were with a real woman.
“That can be a problem, obviously,” Fleck added.
