(WASHINGTON) Top Democrats are panicking that the American people may actually be the ones who decide the outcomes of the 2024 election cycle.
“We are already seeing signs that honest balloting and election integrity are taking over vast swaths of our country, especially in red states,” Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) warned. “We are also certain that this effort is being led by Donald Trump, with a lot of help from Russia, which figures.”
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) said that while Democrats believe in the “democratic process,” he added: “We can’t just have any Tom, Dick, and Harriet decided election outcomes. That’s pure chaos.”
One Democratic lawmaker who requested anonymity was more adamant.
“Look, Americans have taken this ‘free will’ thing entirely too far, even to the point where they actually believe they ought to be deciding election outcomes as if they should actually get to choose who they want to represent and lead them,” the lawmaker said.
“How 18th century,” the lawmaker added. “It’s quaint, I get it, but it’s no way to run a democracy.”
