(DETROIT) The few supporters who came to see President Biden give a campaign speech at a local venue on Saturday were left disappointed and confused, as he just stared out at the sparse crowd for about 35 minutes smiling before aides came and ushered him off-stage.
“I expected a lot more than what I got today after clearing my calendar just to see him,” Jennifer Langdon, 46, said. “I had heard that his mind was gone, but boy, until you see it in person, you just can’t imagine.”
“I will say he kept me on the edge of my seat,” Barney Smithers, 52, added. “I was just sure he would start talking any moment, and I couldn’t wait to hear what he had to say. Even when they came and led him off-stage, I kept thinking, ‘Any moment now…’ It was thrilling.”
Bonnie Womack said she thought his lengthy silence said more than any words could.
“Powerful,” she proclaimed in a cult-like fashion. “Just powerful. Sometimes, no words are better than a lot of words.”
“At least he can’t be accused of making a campaign promise he broke later on if he wins,” Andy Nettles reasoned. “Can’t break a promise when you never say a word.”
