(SAN FRANCISCO) Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a message for victims of crime in her city and across the country – get over it and stop making it “all about you.”
“I want people to know that, while I sympathize with victims of crime, you know, it’s not just about you, so you should stop being so hung up on yourself about it,” Pelosi lectured. “Maybe you should think more about the disadvantaged person allegedly — allegedly — committing these crimes. Ask them what financial imbalances in our society have led them to do what they did.
“It’s all about perspective,” the former Speaker droned on. “It’s about context. Sure, you got robbed, but you can get more stuff, right? Sure, maybe you got beat up, maybe even shot, but why make it all about you? Show some compassion for the other person or persons who obviously have been pushed to the fringes of society because of racism, bigotry, sexism, or — did I mention racism?”
Asked to clarify her remarks, a spokesman for Pelosi said the former Speaker didn’t stutter.
