(Superior, Wis.) Several Secret Service agents have broken their usual silence, albeit anonymously, to complain about having to stand post outside the presidential limousine known as “The Beast” for several hours as Joe Biden napped inside.
“It was friggin’ cold outside, and there he was, so tired and run down by 10 a.m. he couldn’t even get out of the Beast to go inside somewhere and find a bed, or a couch, or something,” one agent said. “So we literally had to stand out their freezing our butts off for the better part of the morning and early afternoon until ‘Sleeping Beauty’ got done with nap time.”
Another agent who was part of the presidential detail added: “Ya know, in the past, some presidents — Trump comes to mind — gave a damn about us. This one obviously does not. He couldn’t care less if we lost fingers and toes standing watch over him like nannies because he doesn’t have the energy to get out of a vehicle.”
The White House appeared to be offended by the anonymous remarks, hinting that agents in the past have protected several Biden family secrets.
“I don’t care what you all have heard, but this president happens to be one of the most courteous, caring, and respectful of all Secret Service agents,” said Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
“Especially those who kept quiet about who really brought that cocaine into the West Wing several months ago,” she added with a wink. “So any reports to the contrary that this president doesn’t care about those men and women are just false. He knows better than anyone they can at least keep a ‘secret’ – pun intended.”
When contacted, the agency confirmed some agents had been treated recently for frostbite, but refused to provide further details, citing “national security.”
