(CHICAGO, Ill.) The Boeing Co. has provided all of its workers worldwide a day off to mourn Nikki Haley’s decision to drop out of the 2024 GOP presidential race.

“There’s no doubt about it—Nikki was the best friend the defense industry could have had in the White House, even better than President Biden has been,” CEO Dave Calhoun said. We were looking forward to massive increases in defense spending under a Haley administration, but now that she’s dropped out, we’re gonna have to cut back on our expansion plans, and that really upset our workers, so I felt like I had to give ’em a day off to mourn.”

Boeing was planning on Haley to help bring in a lot of business since she has long had defense industry contacts but now that she won’t be president, the company will scrap several new expansion projects and could even lay off existing workers.

“We’re disappointed, obviously, because Nikki would have definitely been good for business,” Calhoun added. “Our workers are disappointed too. It’s not a good day to be a defense contractor.”
