(NEW YORK) The hosts at MSNBC did their best to lie to viewers by telling them to ignore the angry Joe Biden they saw on their TVs this week when he delivered his angry State of the Union Address.
“I know what Americans think they saw — a highly perturbed president who had a bone to pick with them — but that’s not what was actually happening,” Rachel Maddow assured viewers. “He wasn’t ‘angry’ per se. He was just a little miffed, that’s all.”
“And who could blame him?” Nicolle Wallace chimed in. “If it weren’t for those nasty Republicans insisting he follow the Constitution and give a State of the Union speech, especially so far past his noonish bedtime, then maybe he would not have seemed so, let’s just say ‘off his game.”
“True that, girls,” Joy Reid said. “Joe Biden is normally a chipper, coherent, logical president who really likes everyone in his party. He has a right to get, um, testy when his political opponents insist he do what he’s supposed to do. That’s not anger, though. I call it righteous indignation.”
It wasn’t clear at press time whether the hosts were smoking something that is illegal in many states.
