(WASHINGTON) A woman who was a guest at a White House event said she felt pressure from Jill Biden to compliment an odd-looking new lamp the first lady just had installed.
“I really didn’t like it, but I didn’t know what else to say,” the woman, who asked not to be identified by name, said. “It was hideous—this odd-looking reddish-orange monstrosity that no normal person would ever hang over their kitchen table.
“But when the first lady kept eying me and nodding with that fake smile of hers, I quickly took the hint. She was fishing for a compliment, so I gave her one,” the woman added.
A White House would not say where the first lady got the lamp out of national security concerns and fears that others would find it just as disgusting and actually comment about it on social media.
The unidentified woman added: “I really thought it would be cool to visit the White House, but I have to say, it was really a horrible experience. I won’t ever go back, especially if the first lady has some piece of trash she’s trying to show off.”
