(BOSTON, Mass.) A feminist has admitted that she has been thinking a lot lately about what life would be like to actually be datable after spending years alone and angry.
“I have been imagining what it would be like to have a loving boyfriend—or even, dare I say, a husband—taking care of and doting on me,” Sonya Middleton, 34, said. “I’ve never, ever had anything like that. I’ve done whatever I could to become a dateless troll, walling off my emotions from men because that’s what I thought I was supposed to do.
“I had lots of boyfriends in high school, but that all ended once I enrolled in college. I was taught that I didn’t need a man in my life, that I could get what I wanted out of life without that ‘hassle,'” she said, using air quotes. “But now, I’m wondering if I was lied to.
“I see a lot of my friends throwing away their feminist indoctrination and dipping their toes in the dating world, and they seem really happy!” Middleton gushed. “And I began wondering: Is that for me? Can I become just as happy if I make myself dateable again?”
She added that it is a risk she intends on taking very soon, but added she’ll need an entire new wardrobe first.
