(WASHINGTON) President Joe Biden’s campaign has released a new video, but it’s not of him discussing issues important to Americans — it’s just a three-minute clip of him chuckling uncontrollably.

Asked to explain the point behind the video, an official with the Biden-Harris campaign responded: “We just thought Americans needed to see a cheerful president sending an optimistic message.”

“Look, there’s no sense in having him discuss major issues like the economy, gas prices, illegal immigration, and high housing prices,” the spokesman continued. “He can’t talk well anyway, let alone convince most people he’s done an adequate job with those issues.

“So the best we can do is project a sense of optimism about the future, and that’s what this campaign video is designed to do. Most Americans love a smiling grandfatherly figure to help them forget about the problems in their lives, so that’s what this video is designed to do,” the spokesperson added.

Asked if the campaign planned to put out any videos of Biden actually addressing things most Americans have said they were worried about, the spokesperson merely said: “I think I just answered that question.”
