(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) Former Vice President Mike Pence managed to sway less than two people this week after he formally rebuked his old boss, Donald Trump, and said he couldn’t support him for president this year.

“I’m really just a big fan of Pence,” Hugh Miller, 59, said after becoming the one voter who is considering the former veep’s position. “To be honest, I was going to vote for Trump again, but man, after Pence came out with his statement, I just really like him — and I don’t think I can go against him on this.

“The problem is, Pence isn’t endorsing Joe Biden either, so that really makes it tough for me. Who should I support? Who will get my vote? Man. I just don’t know. I guess I’m gonna have to write someone in. But who? It’s a tough year to be a Pence supporter,” Miller continued.

The Biden campaign was nevertheless quick to pick up on the effect of Pence’s lack of endorsing Trump.

“Every day now, we see another American growing a conscience and refusing to support a former president who bucked the system, got our economy going again, and gave a damn about the average American struggling every day,” a Biden campaign spokesman said.

“Soon there will be maybe a half-dozen people who take the former vice president’s advice and side with the political establishment over the ‘outsider president.’ They’ll take experience over mean tweets and social media posts all day long,” the spokesman added.
