(SIOUX FALLS, S.D.) A noted historian has refuted claims that Joe Biden has taken to mumbling during speeches, saying that the president is actually using an “ancient dialect.”

Dr. Peter Fuller, a professor of prehistoric studies at the University of Sioux Falls, said Biden is speaking “in tongues” and that he appears to be trying to make contact with others who use the same form of language, though it is said to have died out thousands of years ago.

“It’s really quite something,” Fuller said. “We’ve not heard this dialect in centuries. Even millennia. It’s a mystery why he is using it or how he learned it.”

Others, however, say Fuller is “full of it.”

“No, he’s just mumbling through speeches,” Dr. Terry Englebright, a communications specialist at the University of Arkansas, countered. “The guy is ‘ancient,’ so that’s why he does that. He’s old, man. He just is. There’s no mystery here.

“It sounds like people are trying to make excuses for the guy,” Englebright continued. “Ancient dialect? Seriously? Who would know that?”
