(HOUSTON, Texas) President Biden interrupted a fundraising speech to hop on a conference call with first son Hunter Biden and an unnamed Chinese billionaire.

“Hi, son. Yeah, I can talk. Hello, Mr. Jiang. Yes, it’s good to talk to you again, too. I’m fine, I’m fine. I feel like I’m 70,” Biden could be heard saying over an open mic.

“Okay, well, I can’t stay on the phone long—I’m kind of in the middle of something here. But if you need my go-ahead, then yeah, I’m all in. You know the deal: 10 percent for the big guy. Yeah, Mr. Jiang, that’s me. I’m the boss of this little operation. My son is a lawyer—he can handle the details from here on. Thank you for calling. Gotta go,” Biden said before hanging up.

“Now, where was I? Actually, where am I?” the president said. “Wait. Texas. Yeah, that’s right. A big, ol’ red state I’m not gonna win in November. Not sure why I’m here but…”

At that point, an aide came up to cut Biden’s mic feed and to shuttle him off the stage and into a waiting limo as the handful of supporters who had gathered looked on in wonder.

Later, the White House had no comment, with a spokesperson only saying: “The president is allowed to talk to his son.”
