(Apex, N.C.) A Christian woman says she was fired from a local Starbucks franchise after refusing to refer to coffee with the pronouns “they/them.”

“My faith being what it is, I can only refer to coffee by what it truly is – a beverage, not an entity with human qualities,” Taylor Trice said. “But my belief in the Bible and God aside, anyone with an IQ of more than 25 should know that coffee isn’t ‘they/them,’ it’s ‘hot/iced.'”

Trice admitted that she wasn’t aware that Starbucks was operated by a CEO with the emotional maturity of an eighth-grader.

“Yeah, I definitely would not have taken the job,” the conservative Christian admitted. “I mean, if you really believe you should use the ‘they/them’ pronouns with coffee, you’ve got bigger problems, like being mostly friendless, dateless, and alone on holidays.

Asked if she planned to change her ways after being fired, Trice was adamant.

“No, of course not. Go to any other coffee shop and try to order ‘they/them’ coffee. They’ll laugh you out of the place. They’ll tell you, ‘All we have is hot/iced.’ That’s just true.”
