(Huntsville, Texas) GOP senators worked late into the evening to bring the cows home so that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell would finally step down.
“After Leader McConnell vowed to continue serving ‘until the cows come home,’ we knew it was time for us to act,” Sen. Ted Cruz told reporters as the cows loitered and mooed around him. “So we gathered up the best Senate Republican ropers we could find, and we went out and brought the cows home.
“Now, it is up to Leader McConnell to hold up his end of the bargain,” Cruz continued. “I would say to him, ‘Leader, you made the promise, and as you can see, the cows are now home. It’s time for you to do the right thing and step aside.’
“I hope he does so before these cows leave home again because it’ll take more time to bring them back home,” Cruz said. “It probably won’t be so easy the next time.”
A spokesman for McConnell’s office refused to comment or give a potential timeline for him to step down now that the cows were definitely home. But he did say: “Fine bit of cowboying by Cruz and his Republican ropers.”
