(Washington, D.C.) A new childcare bill being pushed by Democrats would provide a taxpayer-funded nanny for each child under age 13 so parents can go about doing whatever they want.

“As you know, Democrats are the party of ‘for the children,'” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said. “We’re also the party of ‘go have some fun, parents,’ so this bill was designed to fulfill two party platforms at the same time.

“Republicans say that this measure pawns off parental responsibilities on someone else, but that’s only because they don’t care about the massive burden having children places on parents,” Schumer continued. “If they did, they’d realize that parents are Americans, too, and as such, they deserve a break from the daily grind of having to care for their kids. This bill eliminates parents’ concerns about whether their kids are alright while they are out partying.”

Schumer did not say how the measure would be funded but added: “Taxing the rich is always an option.”
