(Stockton, Calif.) A young Gen Z couple is languishing over whether to begin having children or save up for a couple of McDonald’s meals for themselves.

“It’s a much harder decision than we thought it would be,” Chase Jeffries, 24, said. “I mean, we not trying to be selfish or anything, but you know, McDonald’s Big Macs and Quarter Pounders are to die for.”

“I’ve been dreaming about being a mom since was young,” added Jennifer Jeffries, 23. “Now it just seems so out-of-reach for the two of us. I envisioned buying my toddlers their first Happy Meals, but now I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to afford that, even though we both make about $400,000 a year.”

“I want to do the right thing,” Chase noted further. “I really do. But this isn’t a decision we can make lightly. I mean, we’re literally talking about two life-changing things here — kids or being able to eat out once in a while.”

Jennifer agreed. “Once you make a decision, you can’t take it back and ask for a ‘do-over.’ We’ll have to live with whatever choice we make. And that’s a really heavy burden.”
