(Pittsburgh, Pa.) President Joe Biden campaigned in a major swing state this week and appeared to get a little confused about politics and sports.
“Return me to Congress,” Biden thundered, “and I’ll make sure that Major League Baseball scraps the new kickoff rule league owners just approved!”
The crowd seemed a tad confused at first but clapped loudly anyway.
Several rally attendees explained away the gaffe after the event.
“Yeah, some of the things he said were kinda weird, but I dunno, people make mistakes,” Dolph Reed, 56, said. “Hell, I make ’em all the time. Getting sports confused with politics is understandable. Both involve winning.”
“I am not the least bit worried about our wonderful president,” Amy Jackson, 37, added. “He knows what he’s saying in his head, I believe that. It just comes out wrong sometimes. Show me one person who’s perfect!”
“When he does things like that, it just shows that he’s human,” Pete Willis, 54, noted. “I like a president who’s human.”
