(Los Angeles) Rep. Maxine Waters appeared surprised to learn during a fundraiser this week that there are times when she can be super annoying.
“A person who I’ve known for quite some time came up to me after my fire-and-brimstone speech and told me that there are a lot of times when I can, and should, tone it down a little,” the veteran Democrat said. “I had never heard that before. In fact, I was quite shocked.
“I’ve never thought of myself as a loud, excitable person,” Waters continued. “I have always looked at myself as even-keeled, measured, very articulate, and calm. So, when someone I have known almost my entire life tells me something like this after all these years, of course, it came as a surprise.”
Waters was asked if she planned to change her ways now that she knows there are times when she’s super annoying.
“Not in the least. Like I said, I have never viewed myself that way. So I don’t feel l have to change a damned thing about myself,” the California congresswoman responded, her voice rising steadily.
