(The Bronx, N.Y.) Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sounded somewhat confident during an interview this week, noting that she’s “pretty sure” she could find work if she was no longer a member of Congress.
“Yeah, I think so, I’m pretty sure,” the 34-year-old Democratic socialist lawmaker said. “I mean, I guess I could. I personally don’t think anyone should have to actually get out and earn a living, but for now, that’s the way it is.”
“I was a pretty good bartender back in the day, and there is always that if I want to go back and do that again,” she said. “At least, I think so anyway. I was also thinking I would make a pretty good bar manager too. Those jobs are well within my area of experience.”
Asked about whether she thought she could do something else besides tend bar, AOC was a little less confident.
“Oh, I don’t know. I suppose I could learn a new skill. Life can be pretty hard, though, so I wouldn’t want to try and take on something that was a little more than I wanted to deal with,” she said.
