(Nashville, Tenn.) A company CEO praised one of his division managers during a conference call this week after he hired the required number of minorities.
“Good job, Steve, very good job. I see that you’ve done what I and the board of directors wanted, and that’s a good job,” the CEO, Wilson Smith, said. “I wanted to tell you that in front of our team so they are aware that I am pleased with the results.”
“It’s important that our employees know that we are a company that happily bends to outside activist pressure in order to ensure that we are never targeted for highly divisive protests,” Smith continued. “No one likes to work in those conditions and under that environment.”
“It’s also important for applicants of color to know we’re a company that values diversity above everything else including experience and job training, so they should always feel like they are welcome here at our company,” he added.
After Wilson thanked his manager again, he announced that white employees were being scheduled for mandatory diversity training now that the company is much more diverse.
