(Boston, Mass.) A new survey commissioned by Boston University found that President Biden is enjoying a bump in the polls after he frightened enough voters into believing he caused Monday’s eclipse.
“No doubt about it, that’s the primary driver behind his surging numbers,” Prof. Jeremy Baldwin, director of the university’s political science department, which commissioned the poll, said. “It seems there are a lot of voters out there who genuinely believe the president is capable of such feats, and they are eager to reward him over it.
“I won’t say how long this bump in approval will last, but honestly, I could see it affecting the outcome of the 2024 election,” Baldwin continued. “Until now, former President Trump was galloping past the current Oval Office occupant, but this major scare tactic appears to be working some magic for the Biden campaign.”
“It’s very possible that enough voters will continue to believe the president and his surrogates regarding the eclipse and fear that he’ll call down other galactic powers if they don’t back him,” Baldwin added.
“We’ve never seen anything like this,” he said.
