(Madison, Wis.) President Biden rolled eyes and shook heads when he claimed again during a campaign rally that he was instrumental in the capture of Mexican bandit Pancho Villa.
“Those were hard times, those were hard days, let me tell ya,” Biden said in rambling remarks. “All the Army generals, they were stumped about where to find him and what his next move would be, but not me. As a young second lieutenant just out of West Point, my mind was sharp, and my instincts were foolproof.”
“I knew exactly where he’d be on that fateful day, and as usual, I was right,” Biden stammered on. “My superiors couldn’t believe it. They had been hunting him for years, you know, and never could figure out where he’d strike next.
“After capturing Villa, my superiors made me commandant of Fort Carson in Arizona, and I got all the ribbons and awards you could get at the time from the high command,” Biden continued.
Later, the White House sought to clarify the president’s remarks.
“What he meant to say is that he learned about Pancho Villa while in grade school,” press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre explained. “We all did. Nothing to see here.”
