(Camp David, Md.) A spokesman for President Joe Biden’s campaign said today that he will agree to debate former President Donald Trump, but they must be over by noon.

“It’s true, the president has agreed to debate the former president at a place of mutual choosing, but there are certain conditions that must be met,” Mia Ehrenberg, Biden’s national spokesperson, said from the presidential retreat.

“We insist, for one, that any debate or debates be concluded no later than noon. And for anyone who wants to say that’s because the president doesn’t want to be late for his nap, I would just say that’s a non-issue,” Ehrenberg continued. “He’s been up plenty of times past nap time, and he does just fine.

“But as everyone knows, he’s also a busy man, and with a limited window of productivity every day, he tries to squeeze in as much as possible,” she added. “That makes it crucial, then, that debates don’t run late.”

The White House confirmed that both sides were in talks about debates and that Biden would discuss them when he “becomes available.”
