(Rehoboth Beach, Del.) President Joe Biden renewed his vow to continue supporting Israel in the face of an attack from Iran until it starts to negatively affect his reelection campaign.
“The president has always made it clear that the U.S. is a friend and ally of Israel,” a White House spokesman said. “That’s no secret, and it’s not really any different from past presidents.
“That said, even though Israel might be coming under attack, the president’s support is contingent on just how many votes it will ultimately cost him,” the spokesperson said. “And when you think about it, that only makes sense because if he doesn’t win reelection, you know, he won’t be able to help Israel at all.
“So, no, this isn’t a political decision, it’s a practical one. If Israel wants and needs the president’s support, then Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will just have to understand it will only come as long as it doesn’t hurt President Biden,” the spokesperson added.
