(Washington, D.C.) Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Democrats killed two articles of impeachment against DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, saying that Senate impeachment trials are “reserved for Republicans.”
“Today, I say to my colleagues on both sides of the aisle that these impeachment articles against the DHS secretary are improper because he is a Democrat,” Schumer thundered from the Senate floor. “How dare my Republican colleagues assume that I would follow our founding constitutional order when it came to disciplining and expelling one of my own?
“I have read the articles of impeachment and they don’t even come close to rising to the standard of high crimes or misdemeanors,” he continued. “At best, you know, Secretary Mayorkas is guilty of following President Biden’s instructions. And we can’t convict a guy for doing that.
“Unless, of course, he was covering for a Republican president. And we all know Republicans are evil, so anything we do them is justified,” Schumer blared.
