(Detroit, Mich.) In a bid to stave off billions in losses, General Motors announced it would discontinue the unpopular Chevy EV Volt and instead bring back the 1992 Caprice Wagon.

“This isn’t a decision we made lightly,” GM CEO Mary Barra said during a press conference. “We know about the government emissions mandates, but frankly, we’re in this business to make money, and the Volt just isn’t cutting it.

“Back in the day, we sold a ton of the ’92 Caprice Wagons, though, so I got together with our engineering team and they told me that design costs would be minimal because we could just dust off the old ones for the wagon and fire the assembly line back up,” Barra said, adding that GM still had “warehouses” full of Caprice parts.

“We wanted to continue selling them at the time, you know, but we got sidetracked by that temporary ‘minivan’ phase,” she said. “We won’t let that happen again.”
