WASHINGTON, D.C. — House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi set off yet another political firestorm Monday after declaring that Donald Trump was “the worst thing on Earth,” a claim immediately disputed by millions of commuters stuck on I-395 during rush hour.

Pelosi made the remark during a CNN interview, reportedly after being asked to name her top three global threats. “Donald Trump, carbon emissions, and people who clap when the plane lands,” she replied confidently.

The statement drew swift reaction online, with conservatives flooding social media to point out that Pelosi has apparently never experienced D.C. traffic, the DMV, or a Starbucks mobile order gone wrong.

“Worse than D.C. traffic? Please,” one Republican strategist scoffed. “At least with Trump, you eventually reach your destination.”

Fox News ran continuous coverage of the controversy, cutting between Pelosi’s quote and live footage of standstill traffic on the Beltway. The network then teased an upcoming segment titled “Gridlock vs. Trump: Which Threatens Democracy More?”

Meanwhile, the Department of Transportation issued a rare statement defending itself, noting that while Beltway congestion “tests the limits of human endurance,” it “hasn’t yet hosted a rally at the Capitol.”

Asked for comment, Pelosi’s spokesperson said the congresswoman “stands by her statement,” adding that “Trump is a unique hazard to global stability, though admittedly, driving through Northern Virginia on a Friday afternoon is a close second.”

In response, Trump posted on Truth Social: “Pelosi says I’m the WORST thing on Earth. Wrong! Everyone knows that title belongs to VEGAN PIZZA and CNN’s ratings. SAD!”
